Plates, Bowls and Trays... Oh My!

I recently held another Make-A-Plate party at a customer's house. It was a great success. Here are a few samples of what was stamped. I might take a few more pictures when the finished products come in... these are just the papers that are stamped before I send them off to get processed, but I think they turned out GREAT! The gals who attended are SOOO creative!

Christmas Cards

These are the cards we're making tonight at my Christmas Card workshop. I typically do 6 cards for $10. Some of the paper here is retired, but it is a great chance for me to use it up! Inspiration for the JOY card came from the current Autumn/Winter Idea Book, page 11. The idea for the embossed gingerbread house on the photo card came from this post by Lisa Stenz. The photo card is 8.5x5.5" and can handle a 4x6 snapshot. I love the snowman card, but can't take credit for the design, it also came straight from the current Autumn/Winter Idea Book, page 42. All supplies are from Close To My Heart. Enjoy!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

We had a great Halloween. I have a lovely little lady who dressed up as Cinderella (again!) and insisted that Daddy and I dress up as Prince Charming and the Fairy Godmother. :)

The Make-A-Plate party was a hit. Here's a couple pictures of some of the plates that were stamped. These are the papers only... as soon as the real plates come back to me, I'll post some of those pictures. They always look a little better as real plates.

Make-A-Plate Party Coming Soon!

Mark your calendars! I am holding my annual Make-A-Plate party on October 20 & 21 at a friend's house. I bring all my stamps and inks and guests choose a design and stamp up a piece of specialty paper. Afterwards, I send off all the stamped papers to a company called Makit, Inc. Makit processes the papers into melamine plates, bowls and trays. It's a really fun craft night and the projects that are completed really turn out cute. Most everyone makes personalized items for their kids. One of the most popular designs (although not pictured here) is a tray for Santa's cookies and milk on Christmas Eve. This is probably my 6th Make-A-Plate party, and there's always a big turnout. Let me know if you'd be interested in attending (if you're in the Houston area of course!).

The One Minute Baby Shower Card

I made this card on Sunday for a baby shower that I attended. I had put off making the card and had just a few minutes left before leaving the house so I literally made this card in about a minute! I've got to try and remember to use My Stickease stickers the next time I need a quick card.

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: For Every Occasion
Paper: Blush cardstock, Heaven Sent MyStickease stickers (retired)
Inks: Heavenly Blue stamp pad

Layer Cake!

Just needed a quick birthday card for a boy and went looking for inspiration using the August Stamp of the Month. I found that inspiration from Jill Hendricks (who said she was inspired by a blog post from Chris Green). Jill posted a slideshow of an amazing assortment of 30+ birthday cards - all using the same layout but different CTMH papers for each card. Bet you didn't know that CTMH has so many different papers, did you?!?! Check it out HERE.

So... here's my card. It's a scraplift for sure... but I like it, so I wanted to post it.

Be Yourself!

I was playing around with leftovers from one of my card workshops and came up with this. It is basically the same card as in this post. I used this sassy girl image from the Be Yourself stamp set because she fit the paper I had already cut for this card perfectly! I stamped the girl in second generation cocoa ink and then stamped her again in sorbet. I cut out her dress from the sorbet image and placed it over the cocoa image... a technique called paper piecing.

Color Chef Challenge #14

Here's my entry for Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge!

I had a picture of these cards in my files for a while and had not posted them. The colors in the cards were inspired by the ribbons, which I picked up in the $1 bin a Michael's a long time ago. Anyway, what luck that these cards matched the colors in this week's Color Chef Challenge! The card on the left uses Cocoa cardstock as that matched the brown ribbon better and the card on the right uses Chocolate cardstock. The gingham paper is CTMH retired Background & Texture (or B&T for short) paper. B&T is the term CTMH uses for their printed paper. The stamped image is from a retired CTMH set called "Flower Girls".

Four Cards - One Layout

Back in late February, I attended the CTMH Regional Celebration in Phoenix. It's kind of a mini-convention for consultants. We made some really cute cards at the creative sessions and one of them was this birthday card.

The card layout is from Originals and is called Center Charms. I liked how the CTMH staff dressed it up by stamping directly on the B&T paper, adding sparkles, etc. I copied the design for one of my recent card workshops.

I even used it for a Father's Day card for my Dad (minus the stamping and sparkles).

Here it is again as a boy birthday card. So versatile! All I did was change up the papers a little bit for each card.

Blog Awards

The Lemonade Stand Award

One Lovely Blog Award

This is so cool! A fellow Close To My Heart consultant and blogger - Liz - has given me two blog awards! Thanks Liz!

So, I'm supposed to pass both of these awards on.

The Lemonade Stand award is for blogs that show great attitude and gratitude. The One Lovely Blog award is sort of self-explanatory, I think. I'm supposed to pass these on to other blogs. I am passing these awards on to:

1. Misty is such a dear friend and Close To My Heart consultant. She lives far away from me and I miss her. Her blog is great and her creations are even better! Check it out!

2. Vickie is a friend of mine that I just discovered is into papercrafting as much as I am! Yay!

3. Tiffany has a great blog. Full of beautiful artwork. Just love it.

Contest Card

I submitted this card as an entry to the Card Contest at the CTMH Regional Celebration in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. All submissions had to follow these criteria: "Create a card of any size featuring the Mini-Medley Accents White Daisy collection, showcasing unique uses or applications of these versatile accents."

Well, obviously, I didn't win (I wasn't even in the Top 5) or I would have told you about it by now! It was fun to try, though, and I still *really* like this card. The tiny white flowers are brads from the Mini-Medley Accents White Daisy collection. The centers of the flowers are tiny little rhinestones. I think this would make a great Mother's Day card!

Paper: Emporium B&T (CTMH), Twilight cardstock (CTMH), Sweet Leaf cardstock (CTMH), White Daisy cardstock (CTMH)
Embellishments: Clear Sparkles (CTMH), Natural Hemp (CTMH), Sweet Leaf Marker (CTMH)

Do Princesses Jump?

We recently had my daughter's 3rd birthday party and I made the invitations, of course! The invitation text was printed on cardstock and slides into a pocket behind the white scalloped border. A jumping party with a princess theme? Hmmm.... do princesses jump?!?!? Well, mine did!

Stamps: Princess (CTMH), It's a Party (CTMH)
Paper: Daydream B&T (CTMH), Sweet Leaf cardstock (CTMH), Lilac Mist cardstock (CTMH), White Daisy cardstock (CTMH)
Embellishments: Blush ric-rac (CTMH), pink sparkles (from Hobby Lobby)

Sunday, March 15, 2009

I made this cute card a while back, knowing that I would send it to one of my dear friends for a birthday. Well, I'm mailing it out today, and thought I'd better take a picture of it first! I paper-pieced the dress, meaning I stamped the image on patterned paper, cut it out and adhered it over the image stamped on the white cardstock.

Stamps: Winobella (Stamping Bella), Happy Birthday (CTMH).
Paper: Stylin' (CTMH-retired), Hollyhock cardstock (CTMH), Black cardstock (CTMH), White Daisy cardstock (CTMH).
Embellishments: CTMH markers, Sparkles (CTMH), Black/white ribbon (CTMH).

My Recent Trip

OK, so it's been 5 months since my last post... well.. all I can say is time has flown by! The plate party in October was a huge success, although we were rained out one night when the streets in my neighborhood flooded. Very strange.

Anyway, I just wanted to share some pictures that I took on my recent trip to Phoenix to the Close To My Heart Regional Celebration. I traveled there with my friend and downline, Misty Leach. We had the best time and feel energized about our businesses. Best of all, we got to meet the founder of Close To My Heart, Jeanette Lynton. She is SO nice and accomodating. She took time to take pictures with us and chat with us about our business. She was very encouraging. Here's me with Jeanette:

...and here's me with Jeanette and my downline, Misty Leach. We were thrilled to meet Jeanette!

Jeanette Lynton has a blog, too. She recently posted some of her own pictures of the Phoenix Regional Celebration, and I'm in the picture (well, from the back)! You can see my short brown hair and fuschia shirt in the second picture. It looks like I'm working VERY hard on something!

It was a great weekend of learning, paper crafting and meeting lots of great people. Definitely worth the time and money!
