Close To My Heart's CLEAR stamps

My favorite product from Close To My Heart is not just ONE product - it is all of the clear My Acrylix stamps sets and blocks. I never knew I would like stamping so much, then one day I used Close To My Heart clear acrylic stamps and I could see where I was stamping. You can see right through the block to your stamping project. Even better, because the acrylic blocks are used again and again, the stamp sets take up much less space than traditional wood mounted rubber stamps. I love them, and the clear acrylic stamp sets really are the reason I became a consultant - well, that and the fabulous discount I get on all my stamping supplies. :)

Christmas Cards

We haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but I've made up some Christmas cards already. They use the new A Timber stamp set from Close To My Heart. This stamp set sells for just $7.95 and it includes the sentiment "Happy Holidays". The trees are stamped in New England Ivy (darker green) and Garden Green (lighter green) and then cut out with our Microtip scissors. These scissors are incredible for cutting out details and are super sharp. If you don't have one - you should get one. One tree is raised with 3-D Foam Tape.

The paper I used is some retired Close To My Heart paper from a couple of years ago, but I decided to use up some of my stash.  The scallops were created with my corner rounder. The ribbon is Cranberry grosgrain - roll of 20 yards on sale right now for $4.95. Great deal.

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: A Timber
Paper: Evensong B&T, New England Ivy textured cardstock, Colonial White cardstock
Inks: New England Ivy, Garden Green
Embellishments: Cranberry grosgrain ribbon

Scrapbooking Retreat

I organize a couple of scrapbooking retreats each year at a location called Premier Estates in Wallis, TX. Nine other ladies joined me there a couple weekends ago and we had a fabulous time!  Premier Estates is a beautifully restored house nestled on a property full of trees.
The scrap room is all set up for us with tables, leather office chairs, desk lamps, etc. Here we are scrapping our hearts out...
The best part is that the weekend includeds five delicious meals SERVED to us in the dining room. The gals that run the property ring the dinner bell and we make our way to the dining room where our food is waiting for us - on the table - already plated. No cooking or clean-up for the guests...it is HEAVEN!
The highlight of our weekend was the Hayless Hayride! Our hosts, Sharon and Belinda, hooked up the tractor and hay trailer - minus the hay - and loaded it up with patio chairs. We all grabbed our wine and hopped on. We rode around the metropolis of Wallis, TX and waved to all the neighbors.
We had perfect weather while we were at Premier Estates, and even some beautiful sunsets.
Many thanks to my dear friend Cindy, who took the pictures. Check out her handmade baby lovie and baby blanket business here: The Little Turtle. They are super-cute, super soft and cuddly!

CTMH Festive Memories Card Kit

So many of the comments I receive when I'm talking about card making or scrapbooking are "I just don't have the time!". Believe me I understand. It's hard to fit it all in. That's where Close To My Heart's Card Kits come in. These nifty card kits are SO easy to put together - and there's no stamping involved!

The featured card kit in the Autumn/Winter Idea Book (page 88) is the Festive Memories Card Kit. This kit is for photo cards, which I personally LOVE! I almost always include some type of photo of my daughter or our family in my Christmas cards and this kit will make it that much easier. You simply print your 4"x6" photos and adhere them to the inside of the top of the cards.

Tip: Add your photos to the cards FIRST. Then fold the cards in half and add the stickers and self-adhesive gems. That way you can see your photo image through the "frame" and you won't cover up any essential parts of the photo with stickers.

The Festive Memories Card Kit kit includes the supplies to make 12 cards and includes the envelopes!

12 - 5"x7" Preprinted Cards (6 each of 2 designs)
3 - 12"x6" My Stickease Adhesive Sheets
36 - Tulip Sparkles (12 small, 24 Bitty)
36 - Sweet Leaf Sparkles (12 small, 24 Bitty)
12 - White Daisy Envelopes

Autumn/Winter New Product Blog Hop!

It's time to lauch the ALL NEW Close To My Heart Autumn/Winter Idea Book!

As a celebration, a bunch of CTMH consultants have all gotten together to do a Blog Hop. It's where you hop from one blog to another, enjoying wonderful artwork featuring new products from the Autumn/Winter Idea Book. If you have come here from Dawn Ross's blog then you are in the right place!

My creation uses the new Mistletoe Creative Basics and it is a design from the Wishes card-making "how-to" book. The design used is "Gallery" from page 119. The sentiment on the front is stamped in both New England Ivy and Cranberry and paper pieced. The words are popped up with dimensional foam tape. The sentiment is from the new St. Nick stamp set and the little snowflakes on the scallops are from the new Snow Days stamp set. I used the corner rounder punch to create the strip of scallops.

Enjoy the rest of the beautiful artwork! Next up is Cristin Maughan!

If you get lost, you can go back to the beginning of the Blog Hop -or- check out the full list for the Blog Hop.

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: St. Nick, Snow Days
Paper: Mistletoe Creative Basics B&T, New England Ivy textured cardstock, Garden Green cardstock, Cocoa cardstock, Colonial White cardstock
Inks: Cocoa, New England Ivy, Cranberry

Country Boy

As you may have read in some of my earliest posts, my brother is a farmer. So, I always try to come up with some kind of farm-themed card for his birthday. His birthday was back in June and I'm just now getting around to posting this. Boy, the summer sure has gotten away from me! Anyway, here's the card I made for him. The yellow stuff is supposed to be wheat, which is one of the crops that he grows. I used the small swirly branch image from the Over the Rainbow stamp set in first and second generation stamping to make "rows" of wheat and then cut them out. I just slightly overlapped them when putting them on the card.

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: Hay There, Over the Rainbow, Say It In Style
Paper: Splendor B&T clouds, Splendor B&T green print, Clover Meadow textured cardstock, Cocoa cardstock, Colonial White cardstock
Inks: Cocoa, Goldrush

Close To My Heart has FABULOUS new kits called Workshops on the Go that include a Level 2 Paper Packet, an exclusive stamp set and cute embellishments for each new paper design in the Summer 2010 Idea Book. These kits also come with a full-color guide for creating two 12x12 layouts or 6 cards. In fact, the guide shows examples of 2 more 12x12 layouts and 6 MORE cards that can be created with the same kit, using instructions and designs from our How-To books (Cherish, Imagine, Originals and Wishes).

Today I am featuring the Zippidee Workshop On The Go kit. This kit is great for birthdays, holidays and vacations -- especially Disney vacations!  First we have the stamp set, Ticket To Ride, that is exclusive to the Zippidee Workshop on the Go.

Pictured here is 2-page scrapbook layout featured in the guide.

Next, are 6 cards that you can make with this kit.

Pictured below are additional layouts and cards that can be completed with the same kit! The instructions for these additional projects use layouts and designs from our very popular How-To programs.

Bling It On!

Yep, I've finally done it... chosen a name for my Close To My Heart team. As the title for this post says, the name is Bling it On! LOL.. it's kind of sassy, but then again, so am I! Anyway, I'm excited to share it with you and excited for the possibilites of expanding my team.

To celebrate choosing a name for my team, I thought it would be great to highlight some CTMH products you can use to add bling to your projects. First, let me show you our newest bling items!

The Cherry-O Pearl Stickers are six adhesive-backed designs made out of pearls! These are SOOO adorable and they coordinate beautifully with the My Reflections® Cherry-O kit.

Next up is Glitz Stardust Glitter Glue - Add this nifty liquid glitter to projects to make them sparkle with ease—without the loose-glitter cleanup!
Finally, Clear Sparkles are one of CTMH's staples for adding bling! These rhinestones are self-adhesive and come in two different shapes and four different sizes. You simply peel them off the backing sheet and stick them down... it's THAT EASY!

Together You Rock!

This is my swap card for May. Our swap group met this morning at Harry's on Tuam in Houston. What a yummy breakfast! Our theme was Wedding and Anniversary cards. I wanted to do something non-traditional and I really like the You Rock stamp set. The card measures 3.5"x8" and the inside says simply "Happy Anniversary". The colors are Ocean, Chocolate, and Honey. All the cards this morning were AWESOME!

Digital Scrapbooking from Close To My Heart

Studio J is here!!!

or go to http://janellejanish.myctmh.com to give it a try.

I am so excited to announce that "Studio J" has arrived! Studio J is Close To My Heart's online digital scrapbooking studio. Studio J features CTMH's fabulous papers and layouts and is super easy to use. There is nothing to download, no software to purchase. You just need an internet connection and a web browser to use it. You only pay for the layouts that you purchase.

A Studio J "layout" is actually TWO 12x12 scrapbook pages! The price is a great deal as you are not purchasing paper, printing pictures, buying software or digital scrapbooking "kits" AND it saves tons of time. You first upload your digital photos to Studio J and then select an exclusive CTMH paper "packet" and layout. Then simply drag and drop your photos. You can easily re-size your photos or change them to black & white, sepia, etc. After your photos are in the layout, then embellish to your desire. There are lots of options, but it really is FAST and EASY to use.

What I absolutely *love* about Studio J is that I can mix Studio J layouts and traditional scrapbook layouts in my albums. It's not a problem because you simply slide them into the protectors just like regular pages. I will be using it to get caught up on my scrapbooking. :)

For a limited time, for every 5 Studio J layouts you purchase in a single order (that's actually TEN 12x12 pages), you’ll get free Memory Protectors® with your custom prints. Orders of 10 or more layouts get free shipping and handling as well. Create an account and get started today!

Here's a sample of what I've done in Studio J:

Summer 2010 New Product Blog Hop!!!

Welcome to our Close to my Heart New Product Blog Hop! Over 40 Fabulous Close to my Heart Consultants are celebrating the upcoming release of the Summer 2010 Idea Book by giving you a Sneak Peak of some of the great products available in the new Idea Book starting May 1st.

If you have come here from Carrie's blog, you are on the right path.  This is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one. Here we go!

The images on this card are from the stamp set "Bowl of Cherries", which is exclusive to the Cherry-O Workshop-on-the-Go kit. I inked up the bowl image in Buttercup ink and then "rolled" the edges of the image in Chocolate ink and stamped it for a little dimension. Two of the cherries were stamped with the same technique. First I inked the cherry image in Cranberry and then stamped it on scratch paper. Then I
"rolled the edges of the cherry back in Cranberry for some detail. The leaves were made the same way, with Ponderosa Pine and Chocolate inks.

The card design is from Jeanette Lynton's Wishes book. The layout is called "Sweet & Simple". I *love* this book!

Colors used: Ponderosa Pine, Buttercup, Cranberry, Chocolate, White Daisy

Now "Hop" on over to Maranda's blog to see her work. Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their blogs to get some great crafting ideas and see the great new paper and My Acrylix stamp sets.

Princess Head

Just the other night my husband was out for the evening, so I took my daughter to the local Chick-Fil-A for dinner. It was "Family Night" which means some kind of free, fun activity and that night it was face painting. Vanessa loves anything princess, so of course she chose the princess crown for her face paint! I love my little princess!

March Swap Card

The card swap group met again this past weekend. We had lunch at the Grand Lux Cafe near the Galleria. The menu is HUGE and the food is pretty darn good! The inside of the restaurant is large with plenty of seating and a bit opulent. They accomodated our group of 14 at 11am (opening time) with no problems at all. It was a fun place to meet for brunch.

The theme for this month's swap was Spring cards. I broke out the Bunny Love stamp set and went to work. Here's what I came up with:

All supplies from CTMH (unless otherwise noted)
Stamps: Bunny Love, True Friends, Reminisce
Paper: Sorbet cardstock, Colonial White cardstock, Cocoa cardstock, Unforgettable Level 2 Paper Packet, Key To My Heart Paper Packet (retired)
Inks:Sorbet, Cocoa, Juniper
Embellishments: Dimensional Elements - Perennials, Designer Ribbon Rounds Sorbet Collection, Designer Ribbon Rounds Colonial White Collection, Watercolor Pencils & Blending Pen, 3D Foam Tape, Sponges
Other: Brown gingham ribbon

Swap Card

Recently, I joined a group of local ladies who swap hand-made cards. Once a month we meet at a local restaurant for brunch or lunch and to swap. It's really fun to meet some new gals and talk about papercrafting - something we all love. Here is my contribution for last month, my first time to participate. I had seen some of the girls' artwork before this swap, so I *knew* that this card had to be good. I had to make 15 of these and it took a while because several of the elements were cut out by hand - no punches or die cuts here!

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: Connections, Priceless Love Word Puzzle
Paper: Colonial White cardstock, Black cardstock, Silhouette Creative Basics (retired), Jingle Level 2 Paper Packet
Inks:Tulip, Black
Embellishments: Designer Ribbon Rounds Black Collection, Clear Sparkles, Red sparkles (retired), 3D Foam Tape

Party Time!

My daughter Vanessa is turning four in a couple of weeks. Hard to believe... she's my baby and she'll be FOUR!!! I tell her all the time that she is getting TOO big! She agrees with me. In fact, she tells me all the time, "Mommy, I don't want to get too big. I want to stay medium-sized so that I can still be carried. " LOL-if you have a toddler turning into a big kid, you know what I mean. They ARE almost too big to be carried, but they still love to be carried, cuddled and hugged. :)

Vanessa *loves* dogs and wanted a poodle theme for her party. Sadly, I have no poodle stamps, but I do have a retired CTMH stamp set called Uptown Girl that seemed to fit the theme well enough, and this is what I came up with.

This particular design is called Designer Tag and is featured on the front cover of CTMH's latest Card Confidence Program, called "Wishes". I *love* this book. It has great pictures of cards and updated designs which make for easy card creation. Recipe for this design is on page 97. Grab your copy and look it up. Don't have a copy? Shop for one HERE!

All supplies from CTMH
Stamps: Uptown Girl, It's Your Day
Paper: Hollyhock cardstock, Daydream Level 2 Paper Pack
Inks:Hollyhock, Sweet Leaf, Lilac Mist
Embellishments: White Daisy photo hanger, White Daisy organdy ribbon, Blush ric rac ribbon
