Sunday with Studio J - Love Your Layout - September 2011

For today's edition of Sunday with Studio J, I thought I would share Close To My Heart's latest "Love Your Layout" video. This video is full of helpful tips on using My Stickease and changing papers in a layout. The video shows a fun way to create a title using two different fonts and shows how to journal right on top of a photo. Enjoy!

Sunday with Studio J: Benefits of Membership

Today I want to share another layout with you from our recent trip to Disneyland, but I also want to tell you about Studio J memberships. I waited a long time to start creating in Studio J, but now that I've started, I'm hooked! Having a Studio J membership brings my cost way down.

Here are the benefits:
  • Get layouts at 50% off retail price - This is a HUGE savings!
  • Receive free JPG files of layouts with each purchased layout-ONLY with a membership
  • Option to purchase JPG files separately
  • Exclusive patterns, kits, and free Memory Protectors
  • Free shipping on one order per month
The JPG files come in both high resolution and thumbnail sizes to print, share, or archive. This is great for  posting on facebook or sending to the grandparents via e-mail.

There are two options for membership - 3 months for $30 and 12 months for $99. The year-long membership is the best value, of course.

If you're ready to dive into digital scrapbooking, I believe Studio J is for you.

The layout above would work equally well with baby pictures or birthday pictures. Here's what I did, if you want to re-create this layout:
1. Select the "Daydream" paper kit
2. Select the "Through the Lens" layout pattern (Members Only)
3. Select Kit Mix 4
4. Change the Long pink/star B&T strip at bottom to Lilac Mist B&T
5. Change the green (Sweet Leaf) card stock paper to Blush
6. Change the Blush scalloped strip & square bracket to Hollyhock
7. Change White Daisy background card stock to Baby Pink
8. Add title using My Stickease alphabet and a text box for the "&"
9. Colorize the buttons and ribbons to Hollyhock and thread to White Daisy
10. Mat all pictures with White Daisy at 1/16"

Sunday with Studio J

I've been on a roll creating layouts in Studio J - Close To My Heart's online digital scrapbooking studio. I'm going to be sharing some of my creations here every Sunday. Since this is the first of my "Sunday with Studio J" posts, today I'm going to show you step-by-step how I created this layout. This is my daughter at cheer camp. Isn't she CUTE?!?!

Step 1 - Upload Photos
The first step when starting out in Studio J is to upload your photos. If you're new to Studio J and you want to find out more about how to get started, check out these helpful tutorials

Step 2 - Choose your paper
The theme at cheer camp was pink zebra print, so of course I chose the NEW Roxie paper kit because it includes pink and zebra print. So perfect. All of the papers in our current Idea Book/Catalog are also available in Studio J.

Step 3 - Choose your pattern
I had 5 pictures that I wanted to include, so I narrowed my choices by selecting the 5-photo layouts option from the drop down menu in the upper right. I chose the Monologue pattern.

Step 4 - Choose a Kit Mix
Studio J automatically gives six options for mixing papers in the layout pattern you have chosen. I usually try to pick one that has the most colors that work for my photos. You can change any of the papers in the layout later. I chose Kit Mix 3.

Step 5 - Personalize and Add Photos
I knew I wanted zebra print, so I simply clicked on the zebra print design under the Paper tab on the left  and dropped that pattern onto the plaid pattern, which changed it to zebra print. I also changed the background card stock color (Colonial White) to the lightly hatched paper. The same works for the photos. Click the "Photos" tab on the left and then just drag and drop the photos to white spaces with a big "X" in the layout. Once the photos are in the layout, select them individually to see options for resizing, repositioning and matting. I matted all of the photos and the journaling box.

Step 6 - Embellishments
Next, I colored the ribbons and buttons. Simply select them and use the pop-up menu for your changes. I also added "My Stickease" images to accent several photos and the journaling box. The title is also created with My Stickease. Again, it's as simple as dragging and dropping the images onto your layout. The My Stickease stickers can be resized as well.

Once again, here's the final product, which only took me about 30-40 minutes. Perfect solution for busy moms!

To order the layouts you create, click the "Buy Project" button at the bottom right and follow the instructions. Your order will arrive as two 12x12 photo prints, ready to be slipped into your scrapbook album page protectors.

There is no charge to you until you place an order. You can login to Studio J  to try it out and play free of charge. If you would like more information or help creating in Studio J, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks and happy creating!
